RECOTECH Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Ei Nozaki; "RECOTECH") is joining the "Recycling Management Platform (RMP) proof-of-concept for validating its value hypotheses (PoC)" project that PwC Consulting LLC (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Executive Officer and President: Mitsuru Hizaki; "PwC Consulting") is launching under commission from the Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan ("IPA").
This study is commissioned by IPA to PwC Consulting, which in turn subcontracts part of the work to four companies: RECOTECH; NTT DATA Corporation (Koto-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masanori Suzuki; "NTT DATA"); Panasonic Holdings Corporation (Kadoma, Osaka; Representative Director, President and Group CEO: Yuki Kusumi; "Panasonic HD"); and digglue Inc. (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Hideyuki Hara; "digglue").
Against the backdrop of the EU's mandatory DPP (Digital Product Passport), the new ELV Regulation, and Japan's growth strategy and action plans for resource circulation — amid the rising importance of making the manufacturing processes and environmental information of recycled materials visible and transparent — the five companies will jointly study how a resource-circulation information-linkage platform (RMP) that delivers value to both arterial (upstream) and venous (downstream) businesses should be designed, covering the following.
1. Detailing use cases and building/validating business-model hypotheses
- Across multiple domains by material and by area, detail concrete use cases for manufacturing recycled materials from discarded products
- Based on the use cases, build business-model hypotheses and validate them through PoC
2. Building and validating mockups
- Based on the use cases, design and build mockups
- Validate the created mockups through PoC
3. System requirements definition
- Based on the mockup validation results, extract the functional requirements needed for RMP
RECOTECH operates pool, its data infrastructure for resource circulation, connecting information on the generation, collection, and recycling of waste through data and making the value of recycled materials visible. In this study, RECOTECH will draw on the know-how cultivated with pool to contribute, alongside the other companies, in the "automotive x plastics domain" — from examining use cases to considering what RMP should look like.
